This past weekend our school had the privilege of going on our bi-yearly outreach. We go to different villages every semester and work on different projects. This time we layed the foundation for a new church, had a millet-pounding team, a peanut harvesting team, a bench-making crew, and sent out a medical team, a VBS team, and a drama team. I was part of the VBS (Vacation Bible School) team and we went to ten different villages. It was so amazing and such an eye-opener. The people in these villages have so little, and yet they are so full of joy. We were able to share the gospel with them through skits, testimonies, and songs. We had a couple of pastors accompany us to help translate from French to Sereer, and they were such troopers even though it truly was exhausting to go from village to village for two days straight.
The worst part about outreach is "living" arrangements...makeshift toilets, sleeping on the ground, bucket baths, little food, lots of bugs, and lots of work...but we don't do it for our own comfort...we do it to spread the name of Jesus to those who are so hungry to hear! In one of the villages we visited, one of the chiefs asked us to come back and build a church in his village. The harvest is ready- people hunger to hear the good news. If you are a believer, please pray for the people of Senegal that they would be open to accepting Christ. Please also pray for the Pastors and other believers here already- they have a huge job ahead of them and it can often be discouraging. Hope you all have a great day! PEACE!
