Christmas is coming, the goose is getting fat!

Etsy Shop: 4T Designs for $14
Christmas is just around the corner, and if you're like me, you've already started planning and making lists of what to get people. I have to think way ahead here because if I'm going to send something to the states with someone traveling back, I've got to be prepared. My sister-in-law just happens to be here right now, so I'm going to send some stuff back with her for our families.

This year, I want to be as green as possible when it comes to my gift giving. Here are some great ideas that are not only green, but help others and support local economies as well! I'm blessed to be here in Senegal, because we basically only have the option of buying used or handcrafted items (a lot of cool stuff).

* Support local artists and buy gifts from local shops, farmers markets, etc. (This not only keeps money in your area, but cuts down on the amount of fuel it takes to transport things from China for example)

* Shop at http://www.etsy.com/, a great site for artists who sell handmade or vintage items- support small businesses and artists!

* Buy used items, like books, clothes, jewelry, etc. I'm a total thrifter and don't mind at all if people give me used items. In fact, they usually have more character anyway and shopping at thrift stores helps support charities.

* Check out fair trade sites and shops like http://www.afarimports.com/- items are made all over the world and money goes directly to the craftsman who make the stuff to help with education, health, etc.

*Go for a handmade Christmas and make gifts for your friends and family! Your gifts will be unique and that much more special =0)

* Go for battery-free gifts.

Here are some lovely gift ideas from etsy.com

You are welcome to get any of these things for me...=0) J/K...but seriously.
